The Flute Society of NSW organises an annual Eisteddfod for all ages and abilities. The goal is to help all aspiring flute players find a platform to perform and to be inspired by those around them. You can find the full list of past results here.


2025 Eisteddfod

With over $1,000 in prize money to be won, we hope flute players across New South Wales will feel inspired to share with us their artistry and passion!

Free choice of music within the time limit (can be accompanied or unaccompanied)

10 Years & Under (3 min) 9:30AM – 10:40AM

Grades 3/4 (3 min) 10:45AM – 11:55AM

Grades 5/6 (4 min) 12:00PM – 1:25PM

Grades 7/8 (6 min) 10:00AM – 12:00PM

One Accompanied Piece and One Unaccompanied Piece

Junior Championship - 12 Years and Under (6 min) 1:40PM – 3:15PM

OFFICIAL PIANISTS

We will be covering the cost of official accompanists on the day. You are also welcome to organise your own accompanists at your own expense. The accompanists’ contact details will be emailed to the participants. Information on which sections each accompanist is assigned to will be announced soon.

EISTEDDFOD GUIDELINES

  • Entries with fees are to be received by 5PM Friday, 31 October 2025. Late requests will not be accepted.

  • The Flute Society of NSW Eisteddfod is only open to residents of NSW & ACT, Australia.

  • The same piece may not be performed by the same player in multiple sections.

  • Pieces may be cut to fit within the time limits of each section.

  • Performers should announce their name and program before commencing.

  • The Eisteddfod has limited enrolments in each section.

  • Where a participant does not show for a section or withdraws their application, fees will not be refunded.

  • This Eisteddfod is not open to professional players (a person who derives the major part of his/her income from flute performance.)

  • In age specific sections, the competitor will be the prescribed age as of Sunday 23 November 2025.

  • Previous winners of the Championship sections are eligible to re-enter. 

  • A competitor may perform in any section only once.

  • Where the time limit is set, competitors must not go over the specified time and must take this into consideration when choosing their repertoire. The adjudicator will only listen to entries up to the time limit.

  • In all sections, dress and presentation will be taken into consideration.

  • Photocopied music must NOT be used in any performance (other than for page turns). The Flute Society NSW accepts no responsibility for unauthorised copy of materials by entrants and assumes that no copyright laws have been infringed.

  • The adjudicators' decision is final, and correspondence will not be entered into. 

  • The committee reserves the right to cancel any section with insufficient entries. If this occurs then entry fees will be refunded.

  • Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult, or bring a signed copy of the Child Disclaimer Form, found here.

RELEASE AGREEMENT

  • As part of your registration, you authorise the Flute Society of NSW to use videos and/or images taken from the 2025 Eisteddfod for promotional use on its website (www.flutesocietynsw.org), newsletter and Facebook page.
