2020 RESULTS
Congratulations and thanks to the 45 talented composers who entered our 2020 Flute Society Composition Competition. We were thrilled to receive so many compositions of such an extremely high level. It made our job of choosing just one winner very difficult. As a result, it was decided to award a joint 2nd Prize to three more composers, as well as seven highly commended awards.
Congratulations to BEN HOADLEY who is our 2020 1st Prize Winner ($1,000) for his composition Involute!
Our judging panel was made up of four highly esteemed flutists:
Janet Webb (former Principal Flute Sydney Symphony Orchestra, BA Mus & Flute Society of NSW President)
Mark Xiao (MMus, Specialised MMus (Soloist), MMus (New Music) University of Music & Performing Arts Munich)
Jocelyn Fazzone (MM Virtuosite, BMus, LMus, Sydney Conservatorium, AMEB Chief Woodwind Examiner)
Kirrily Swatton (BA Flute Performance Melbourne University, Flute Society of NSW Vice President)
A big thanks also to Emilia Antcliff for coordinating the competition and making sure everything ran so smoothly!
Thank you once again to all the composers who entered this year’s competition. We are looking forward to hearing more amazing new flute works next year!
